And Your #1 Fantasy Running Back Is...

San Diego's LaDanian Tolminson. There where not a lot of votes, but I don't think we would have needed them. 12 votes, 8 of them for L.T. It's a young blog, hopefully there will be more votes on this week's poll.

I will tell you why you are all wrong.

Phillip Rivers and Antonio Gates are injured. Both had big surgeries in the off season. Gates a toe and Rivers had his knee totally redone in February. Antonio is barely running and is sure not to be 100% by week one and Rivers went under major reconstructive surgery and is sure to be touch and go on the weak knee well into the season.

Not to mention L.T.'s own dinged up knee.

This is a recipe for disaster if you ask me. Those three people are the heart of the San Diego points machine. All three are touched up heading into training camp. This is also a recipe for an L.T. breakdown. Let's face it, he has some mileage on him. Certainly they are highway miles, but even the most reliable Honda has a hiccup every now and then.

Bottom Line: Look for increased production early, possibly blistering numbers. Then a steady decline in numbers hopefully avoiding a crash landing. When week 16 comes, owners will look back on an overrated number one selection.

I must think with L.T.'s decline, owner's of the Peterson's, Westbrook's, Jackson's and the Addai's alike will get good values in drafts. Weary of Westbrook's age, I like to look to the direction of Marion Barber, Addai, Steven Jackson and Larry Johnson for my draft.

Marion Barber looks to be my great value in the late first or second. With Julius Jones not there to leech of the touches his value goes up, up, up. I'd be thrilled to land Adrian Peterson with a early pick with his raw talent and gaudy rookie numbers. Especially in keeper leagues.

So with my imaginary early 1st round pick I take Adrian Peterson. With my imaginary late 1st round pick I take Marion Barber.
